Micro Sword is an excellent foreground plant for beginners trying to grow a carpeting plant for the first time. When planted densely in groups towards the front of an aquarium, it gives a wild grass-like effect which really gives a natural impression.
This plant grows by spreading runners horizontally throughout the substrate. High light and CO2 will keep the growth short and compact, creating an underwater lawn of green. Propagation is simple like other foreground plants. Simply cut out portions from the horizontal shoots and replant the clumps that you cut out.

Sword rose plants produce wide, oblong leaves with beautiful striation, wavy texture, and a range of colors from pink to greenish brown. New leaves on the plant are pink or bronzy colored and will turn bright to dark green as they mature. These plants are easy to care for and do not require CO2 injection, but as with most plants, they do need a nutrient-rich substrate in order to really thrive. They will tolerate low to moderate lighting just fine, but higher lighting brings out more color in the leaves.

These plants have short stems with large ovoid leaves that display hardy yellow veins and leaves with a subtle wavy texture. Red Rubin sword plants can display a range of colors from red, purple, and gold to green or dark green. Red Rubin sword plants can easily grow emersed or submersed.
Red Rubin swords propagate through side shoots that grow off of their leaves. These can be removed and replanted if desired, or removed and discarded to control the spread of the plant.
Red Rubin sword plants are not picky when it comes to water parameters, but they do need a good, nutrient-rich soil in order to thrive. CO2 injection is not necessary for these plants. Moderate light is ideal for Red Rubin swords, but the plant will do fine under a range of lighting conditions. These plants are sensitive to copper and should not be kept in tanks treated with it. Amazon sword plants can get pretty huge, making them a great fit for a large tank. Their large leaves can easily restrict light to other plants if they are not pruned regularly

Unit price perEchinodorus Osiris is a popular choice among the sword family. The plant has a rosette growth pattern and has large round leaves. When grown under ideal conditions, such as high light and with CO2 injection, the leaves will develop a beautiful red tint. Due to its size, Echinodorus Osiris is typically grown in the background and will nicely fill any area of the tank.
Melon Swords are heavy root feeders and should be planted in a rich aquarium substrate, such as UNS ControSoil. Additional root tabs may be added if the plant becomes very larger. Sword plants are hardy and if given time, can adapt to a wide range of growing conditions. It is recommended to trip any damaged or imperfect leaves, as this will promote new leaf growth. Melon Swords will naturally propagate themselves by either dividing at the base or sending out a flower stalk with runners. These divisions and runners can be split and planted separately once mature.
