⚔️ Sword plants (Echinodorus) are hardy, fast-establishing background plants that anchor your scape and drink deep from the substrate. They love a natural soil base with a sand cap—perfect for Father Fish–style tanks with no CO₂ or bottled ferts.

    Why choose sword plants

    • ✅ Big leaves and fast establishment for instant “grown-in” look
    • ✅ Hardy, beginner friendly, great for community tanks
    • ✅ Heavy root feeders—thrive in deep, natural soils

    Best setup (Father Fish method)

    1. Lay ~1 inch natural soil across the bottom.
    2. Cap with 2–3 inches of pool filter sand.
    3. Plant swords deep so crown sits just at sand surface.
    4. Plant heavy on day one and let biology do the work.

    Father Fish tip

Swords are hungry root plants—give them a deep bed and they’ll do the rest. Avoid stirring the sand cap after planting.
