The Aponogeton Ulvaceus Madagascariensis is a distinctive bulb plant native to Madagascar. This variety looks to be a hybrid of two different aquatic plant species: Aponogeton Ulvaceus, also known as the "Giant Onion Plant", and Aponogeton Madagascariensis, also known as the "Madagascar Lace Plant".
This hybrid species is wavy and lacy, featuring slightly translucent oblong leaves that are light green in color. Overall plant size can range from 25 to 50 cm depending on the hybrid's particular lineage. A nutrient-dense aquarium soil is highly recommended as with all heavy root feeders along with consistent maintenance efforts to ensure this aquarium plant does well. Proper water circulation and flow is vital for good health and will support healthy plant growth.
When planting, ensure the bulb is covered by the substrate, with the tip of the sprout just above the soil's surface. Due to its unique water quality and substrate requirements, this hybrid species is best suited as a solitary plant in a species-specific aquarium. Aponogeton Ulvaceus Madagascariensis' growth can be boosted by inserting nutrient capsules into the substrate around the bulb's root system.

Unit price perCommon Name: Aponogeton Ulvaceus
Aponogeton Ulvaceus is a very large aquatic bulb plant with leaves that grow in a twisted curly manner. Its bright green leaves are slightly translucent and grow from a long sturdy stem shooting out of the bulb. It is considered an easy aquatic plant to keep and can withstand a wide range of water parameters. Like most Aponogeton species, Aponogeton Ulvaceus grows very large and is suitable for larger planted aquariums!
Half of the bulb should be buried into the substrate to facilitate growth. Avoid completely burying the bulb as this can promote bulb rot.
Notes:
- Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
- Aponogeton grows fairly large making this aquarium plant suitable for larger planted aquariums.
- Please be sure to remove this plant from its lead bunch. Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into a quality substrate. For instructions on how to properly prep "bunched" aquarium plants, click here.

Unit price perThe Cardinal Plant (Lobelia cardinalis) is an uncommon yet captivating addition to the foreground or middle ground of planted freshwater aquariums. In nature, it can be found growing along streams, rivers, and waterways. With sufficient height, it can even serve well in the background. Its submerged form showcases vibrant green foliage, occasionally tinged with red-purple on the leaf undersides, though this hue is more commonly observed in its emersed form. Notably, the Cardinal Plant is renowned for its striking red flowers that bloom from its emersed growth.
To thrive, the Cardinal Plant requires moderate to high levels of lighting. Regular trimming of its tops allows for mat expansion, while proper care encourages the development of lush side shoot leaves. The addition of fertilizers can be advantageous in maintaining optimal coloration and overall plant health.

Unit price perMicranthemum ‘Monte Carlo” originates from Argentina, serving as an excellent aquatic foreground plant. When provided with ample lighting and nutrients, Monte Carlo forms a lush green carpet with small, rounded leaves that are bright green in color. Micranthemum Monte Carlo is a popular carpet plant that resembles Hemianthus Callitrichoides (HC/Dwarf Baby Tears), but is typically easier to cultivate.
To maintain dense, low growth, moderate to high lighting and CO2 injection are essential. Vertical growth and yellowing leaves may indicate lack of lighting and/or nutrient deficiency, while thinning leaves can hint that there is lack of CO2. Once established and happy, Monte Carlo requires regular trimming. Adaptable to submerged or emersed conditions, Monte Carlo thrives in dry start aquariums and Wabi Kusa setups. Its small size and delicate roots can be challenging to plant, making this listing perfect for support until the plant forms a root system.

Unit price perThe red variation of Cryptocoryne Wendtii is quite popular and can be used in a variety of aquatic landscapes. Its leaves have a unique look with slightly wavy edges, and some even appear dimpled or blistered. When exposed to good lighting, these leaves take on a deep, dark red color, creating a striking contrast when paired with green water trumpets.
What sets this Cryptocoryne apart, similar to other Cryptocoryne species from Sri Lanka, is its ability to thrive in hard water conditions. This makes it an ideal choice for aquariums housing cichlids, which often require specific water chemistry.
Like other Crypts, it grows at a moderate rate and can be grown both submerged and emersed. To propagate, simply cut off new plantlets growing from the mother rhizome.

The Red Root Floater is a beautiful floating plant with light green leaves that can turn blood red when kept under high light. What makes this plant unique and highly sought after are the blood red roots that it has compared to the usual brown roots of other floaters.
This small floating fern can quickly grow and spread into thick mats that cover the entire top of the tank and block out light from below. It's perfect for low tech aquariums and paludariums and can act as a good shading plant to prevent algae growth.
Keep in mind that these floating plants prefer low flow and will not survive in a tank with a lot of surface agitation.
